With every passing generation, men become weaker and more confused. This is not only because of dropping testosterone levels across the board, but also because men have few – if any – strong role models in modern America. More and more young boys are raised by single mothers or in female-dominant homes, and then they go off to public school… where their instruction and discipline is performed almost entirely by women. What’s a young boy to do?

Eventually, in the modern age, he finds his way to the Internet. Faced with an unprecedented plethora of choices, he must wisely navigate the endless sea of public figures who claim to teach “true masculinity.” Nowadays the PUA sphere has been largely supplanted by the more general “male self-improvement,” which always teaches how to indulge in one’s material temptations more successfully; not only more premarital sex – as was the niche’s focus in my own adolescence – but more money, more cars, more of everything he wants…all while compromising as little as possible.

This, so they tell you, is what it means to be a man: getting more of what you want while suffering as little as possible. To those of you more philosophically-inclined, this is simply the reiteration of ancient Epicureanism: a materialist outlook seeking to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. Is this truly the peak of what a man can achieve?

I won’t throw out the baby with the bathwater or suggest that there’s nothing of value to be learned from such sources. Rather, I assert that what good can be found in them can be found in better, fuller, and holier form from Christian sources – and without all the soul-killing baggage. For a deeper examination of this idea, I encourage you to read St. Basil the Great’s Address to Young Men on the Right Use of Greek Literature. It’s an ancient, in-depth homily on how young men ought to engage with pagan or secular material.

Having said that, there is no shortage of instruction for how men ought to look, behave, and conduct themselves in the writings of Holy Scripture and the Church Fathers. Therefore, I’d like to present you with three aspects of manhood that God considered important enough to illuminate through these vehicles.

Appearance

You may have read this bullet point and thought to yourself that men ought to have no concern for their appearance. In a certain sense, you’re right; a man should not spend inordinate amounts of time admiring himself in the mirror, seeking out and purchasing the latest trendy and fashionable clothes, or taking hours of each day making sure that he presents himself in such a way to attain validation from others.

On the other hand, the notion of how a Christian man should look was important enough to be mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments – not to mention by several Fathers of the Orthodox Church. Starting at the beginning, we read in Deuteronomy 22:5 that “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.”

The New Testament, as you might expect, is perfectly aligned with the Old Testament and its sentiments. God is the God described in both texts, Who interacts with humanity in each of them and through Whose inspiration both texts were written. Christians are not Marcionites; we do not believe there is any tension or disagreement between the Old and New Testaments.

Therefore, we should not be surprised to discover that St. Paul reiterates what you read above, writing in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, not idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, not drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

God, inspiring the pen of St. Paul, teaches that an effeminate man is as much an abomination as a fornicator, an idolater, or an adulterer. In practical terms, this means not dressing in such a way as to feminize your appearance or behaving like a woman. No earrings, no eyeliner, no painted nails, no “unisex” clothing, and certainly no “transgenderism.” For a full Christian breakdown of sexual dimorphism – and a survey of its denial’s consequences – I encourage you to listen to Father Josiah Trenham’s lecture series “Reflections On Transgenderism.”

Since the same Holy Spirit speaks through both the Bible and the Church, we should expect to find – and do find – this same sentiment passed down through the centuries. Specifically, we find Church Father after Church Father exhorting men to grow beards and not to shave their faces.

In The Instructor, Clement of Alexandria wrote that “For one who is a man to comb himself and shave himself with a razor, for the sake of fine effect, to arrange his hair at the looking-glass, to shave his cheeks, pluck hairs out of them, and smooth them, how womanly!…This is a meretricious and impious form of snare. For God wished women to be smooth, and rejoice in their locks alone growing spontaneously, as a horse in his mane; but had adorned man, like the lions, with a beard, and endowed him, as an attribute of manhood, with a shaggy chest – a sign of strength and rule.”

In his Exposition on Psalm 133, St. Augustine of Hippo wrote that “The beard signifies the courageous; the beard distinguishes the grown men, the earnest, the active, the vigorous. So that when we describe such, we say, he is a bearded man.”

In the Apostolic Constitutions we find the following passage as well: “Nor may men destroy the hair of their beards, and unnaturally change the form of a man. For the law says: You shall not mar your beards. For God the Creator has made this decent for women, but has determined that it is unsuitable for men. But if you do these things to please men, in contradiction to the law, you will be abominable with God, Who created you after His own image. If, therefore, you will be acceptable to God, abstain from all those things which He hates, and do none of those things that are unpleasing to Him.”

As a survey of history clearly demonstrates, from the time of Moses up until the present day, the community of God has explicitly declared that a man should look like a man. A beard and body hair distinguish you from women and children; should you shave yourself and look like a naked mole rat, you will have marred the appearance that God designed you to have.

Yet there is far more to being a man than just how you look. If you look the part – but act weak or womanly – you are failing just as much as if you shaved your face and body. On that note, let’s continue to the next point of Christian masculinity.

Conduct

The way you behave is even more important than the way you look. For a good example of what I mean, consider any mainstream “rap” video; half the time, the men in these videos are wearing a cross. And yet what do they “rap” about? Always the same topics: money, sex, power, drugs, killing, and Luciferian exaltation of the self. Every song is about me, me, me. This is the false image of masculinity propagated to the populace by wicked, deceptive agents of Satan who want to separate man from God.

Read any self-help book on the shelves today, and you will discover there a version, whether watered-down or full-fledged, of the Nietzschean will-to-power. The male self-help niche is absolutely saturated with the worship of individuality, the assertion of dominance, and the encouragement to conquer.

The irony of pretending these images are of “powerful men” is that there is nobody weaker, nobody more enslaved, than a man who throws himself into every sinful temptation he feels. St. Augustine of Hippo aptly noted that “a man has as many masters as he has vices.” You can have all the money, power, and women you want…the absolute zenith of “male self-help”…yet if you succumb to temptation left-and-right, you remain a slave to your own impulses and will never be truly free.

Now the concepts of individuality and dominance can, and do, have a Christian counterpart. On the topic of individuality, for example, the secular world may tell you that there is nothing more important than you. Your desires, your ambitions, your possessions, your influence. But in the Christian context, individuality is only truly realized in obedience to, and likeness of, Christ Himself. We are not Buddhists seeking to dissolve our personhood into a great nothingness. We do not seek the destruction of the self the way some esoteric, non-Christian belief systems do. Rather than destruction, we seek fullness and transfiguration; becoming a man means aligning our person with the ultimate Person, our manhood with that of the ultimate Man. In that context, our individuality is not erased; it is established, it blossoms, and it flourishes. This is achieved specifically by denying ourselves, overcoming our greed and our passions.

Likewise, there is nothing wrong with the idea of dominance – but depending again on the meaning. In the secular sphere, dominance often means never backing down, asserting yourself against and above everyone around you. It is about making yourself bigger by making others smaller, diminishing them to inflate your own sense of superiority. In the Christian sphere, dominance has two specific contexts: rulership of your family and, whether you have a family or not, rulership over your passions. A man who is moved by his emotions is weak; a man who cannot resist temptation is useless. Look at the world around you, at the politicians and media moguls. They are, largely, sin-sick men who succumb to their every desire and, being easily corrupted, are likewise easily owned. The Christian life is a battle with the passions, and in this warfare you must dominate. You must rule. You must conquer.

In short, the essence of masculine behavior is self-control. If you do not have the ability to say “no” – whether to others who offer you something you shouldn’t take, or even more importantly, to yourself – then you must get to work developing this ability immediately. You must be able to withstand a sinful impulse and adapt your behavior to that laid out by the Christian path. After all, we read in Revelation 21:8 that “the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” I hope you will heed God’s warning, and do everything in your power to avoid finding yourself in these categories.

And yet, one of the many grand paradoxes of Christianity is that your own power and will are utterly incapable of attaining this goal; rather, it is submitting your will to God’s that will bring you the results you’re after. The only power your will has, in these circumstances, is the will to cooperate with God. But if you try to brute-force your way into virtue, you will end up the spiritual equivalent of a “dry drunk;” your bad behavior may have improved, but the wounds that led to it will remain unhealed. This is especially difficult for men to accept since our pride wants us to be the victors, wants us to be powerful, wants us to be strong.

In fact, Satan will appeal to your fallen sense of masculinity in order to keep you in his grip: “You got this,” he whispers into the undiscerning ear. “You’re strong enough to handle this yourself.” And yet the truth is precisely the opposite; as quoted in one of my all-time favorite spiritual books, Victory In The Unseen Warfare: “If you rely on yourself in the spiritual warfare, you will not be able to resist even the smallest attack of the enemy.”

Such words wound our ego, our pride, our fallen manhood. We cringe at the notion of not being self-reliant; after all, men conquer! Men are strong! Men handle their problems! And we do conquer; we are strong; we do handle our problems – but we do so by submitting ourselves to God to let Him take care of such things with ease, rather than getting lost in the world’s vision of self-esteem.

And yet we are not utterly powerless, as I mentioned above. We have the power to cooperate with God by making wise choices about our behavior. We have the power to feel a temptation and – rather than immediately leap into it – fall to our knees and pray. We can choose to grab our prayer ropes, do our prostrations, say our Jesus Prayers. And these behaviors, so opposite to what the world tells us makes us “strong,” in fact brings us the greatest strength of all: God’s grace and power, against which temptation is nothing.

We can also choose to make intelligent choices that will minimize the odds of falling into sin. By way of personal example, I’ll share with you what I did when I was courting the woman to whom I’m now married.  The first time she came to my apartment – which was in broad daylight, so as to be less tempting than a nighttime hangout – I asked my housemate to be present as a chaperone. I, a young adult in his early thirties, asked another man to help supervise me; this sort of thing is crushing to the pride that leads us astray, and helped set the right tone for our relationship.

Even before then, in our very first conversation about dating, I told her explicitly that I was not going to sleep with her unless and until we ended up husband and wife. I took the initiative, as a man should do, to set the frame and boundaries of the relationship. Believe it or not, she and I did not even hold hands until three months later – when we “officially” became boyfriend and girlfriend. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for having made these kinds of choices, nor for my gratitude that she followed my lead. I am convinced that if we’d slept together before our wedding night, it would have destroyed our relationship and the foundation of what we built.

If you currently have a girlfriend, or a woman you’re dating, I cannot recommend enough that you structure your hangouts or dates in such a way that the possibility of fornication is cut off from as many angles as possible. This is the kind of leader Christ wants you to be, and it’s the kind of leader to whom a Christian woman will want to submit.

Once you demonstrate, with behavior like this, that submitting to your leadership leads to mutual edification – and not to your selfishly using her as a secular man would attempt to do – she can relax into her obedient role and know that her body and soul are in competent, trustworthy hands. None of this can happen if you, yourself, are still subject to being overthrown by lust…and if you are, exercising this kind of caution and self-restraint will greatly help to free you from those shackles. Every time you overcome a sinful impulse, God will reward you with grace and dispassion.

So what is the key to proper Christian conduct? Obedience to God, to the best of your ability, coupled with sincere repentance if and when you fall short. But there’s more to obedience than what the average Westerner might imagine.

Obedience

To be a man is to believe in order, both within and without. Order in our internal worlds, submitting what is low to what is high within us. Order in our external worlds, submitting ourselves to the authority of God above. Orthodox Christians submit on many levels: to God, to the Church, to our Priest, and to each other. By ordering our external behavior in such a way, it cultivates humility – the ultimate weapon of spiritual warfare – and brings our fractured souls into alignment.

Without Christ and His Church, our souls are fragmented. We become compartmentalized, fractured beings with our inner powers in a state of disharmony. This is, as mentioned above, exacerbated at every opportunity by those who seek power and control over us. But by cultivating the virtue of obedience, we bring our dissonant selves into harmony and become whole, complete human beings. But in our world nothing is more difficult – and nothing is more anathema to the secular conception of masculinity – than the notion and practice of obedience.

Most Christian men understand the idea of obedience to God. Depending on what group you belong to, that can manifest itself in different ways; many Protestant men will take the idea to mean reading the Scriptures and doing their best to follow its commands and exhortations. That is certainly a step in the right direction, and will bring much more grace than simply trying to “go your own way” as many modern men do. Roman Catholic men do their best to obey not just the Scriptures, but also their Pope (at least, when they agree with him).

Orthodox Christians do our best to obey the Scriptures, our spiritual fathers or mothers, our Confessors, our bishops, and – most importantly – the Holy Spirit as He has spoken through the Church’s Ecumenical Councils throughout time. Ideally, there is no dissonance between any of these sources; a good spiritual elder will do his or her best to only teach what is found in the Scriptures and the Church.

As someone who began his life as an atheist – and then moved through Protestantism on his way to the Holy Orthodox Church – I can tell you that one of the most difficult parts of the journey was to swallow my pride enough to obey my priests and the dogmatic declarations of the Church. Infected by the spirit of American democracy, I brought my Western baggage into the beginning of my Christian walk: my voice counted as much as anyone else’s, my interpretation of Scripture was just as valid as a Saint’s, my life would be run my way and where convenient, I would allow Christ to take the lead. But a wise man once said that “There is a wall between us and God, and that wall is called ‘I.’” And the more I have learned to humble myself and obey, the more correct I realize he was.

Our deepest disease is pride. It is the mother of all sins, as humility is the mother of all virtues. And nothing breaks down the prideful self-willing, so expected and encouraged in the Western world today, as obedience. It is difficult, it will irritate you, and in the end it will prove to be one of the greatest mirrors for your own remaining sin as you attempt to grow in obedience and find such an ocean of resistance within. And plus – if you wish to be obeyed as a Christian leader, you must first learn to follow Christ. No man can lead until he first learns to follow.

Christianity is a paradox in many ways, at least as concerns our behavior in this world. But the founder of our Faith, Jesus Christ Himself, already told us this over 2,000 years ago: “The last shall be first, and the first last” (Matthew 20:16). When we puff ourselves up to an unwarranted position of superiority, we end up harming our souls in the long run. Thus I encourage you to study what it meant to be a Christian for the first 15 centuries of the faith; read the Apostolic Fathers (the direct disciples of the Apostles) and then their students, and their students, and their students after them.

If what you find disagrees with your own conception of Christianity, have the wisdom and humility to recognize the likelihood that those men who knew the Apostles personally understood Christianity better than what you learned from Pastor Jim’s Bible Church. If you submit to the Christian life handed down throughout the millennia, and obey the canons and dictates written down by the world’s most inspired and illuminated men, you will find healing in your soul that you never imagined possible.

When we humble ourselves enough to follow the teachings of Christ over time, adapting our appearance and conduct to the path He laid out rather than adapting Christianity to our own preferences, that is when we enter the Kingdom of God: not just in the afterlife, but in the here-and-now as well.

…… We all know that we do not simply vote to pick a rabbit out of the hat and then let the chosen rabbit produce some kind of magic trick that we call governance. Usually all we get in return are small pellets of not so useful results.

Said simply, when you elect people to determine your future and do nothing to keep an eye on them then you will get less than desirable outcomes.

Man is Man and Nature is Nature.

Politics is not life – If it is then that is really sad

Politics is not life. If it is then that is really sad.

Does it seem to you like nothing can be done or said without using the lens of politics to focus our cultural perspective?

What a mess we have made of our world. I mean that too. For the decades plus that I have spent walking the same planet earth that you and others have, the American culture has not moved in a sustainable direction.

If the experience of life is to be of any value, we have to regain the ability to shine the light on our culture from many different lenses and make them all resolute.  It is up to us now, We The People to mold our culture closer to our agreed upon charters. Not a government, a program, a grant or anything else. They will not solve the problem. They are part of it.

We have to regain the power of the Individual.

In order to do that, well, straight politics cannot be the lens anymore. It has gone from values and ideas, to R v D – Spy v Spy – Orange Man Bad – BLM – what is next?

The outcome is tragic if we cannot divert this childish behavior and tantrums by our leaders and citizenry.

“We The People” have to stand up and put an end to the insanity by taking back our local Institutions. We must again begin to rebuild a new reality that is closer to the heart, through our neighbors, friends and  family. There is no time to wait for anyone else, the time is now and we are the ones that must decide our future direction.

What we are living through in our community today is a long-time effort to degrade our culture and we allowed it. How?


Seeing as it is Sunday, I would like to emphasize with you that the light we are trying to interpret internally is God. If it is not light then may I suggest you turn your face back towards light and reflect in the healing power of love. We are not fully equipped to understand the depth and fathom of God.

Many in our culture can barely gauge their own behavior and egos anymore. Why?

As humans, not of race, gender, or anything else. When we as just humans use the filters of life’s lessons, we can generally see what works for us and what does not. We can make decisions based on our past outcomes that were created by our actions. Agree?

The same is true with what we teach ourselves. It is true too that we make decisions based upon or economics, sexuality, religion, race and every other relevant filter that God has given us to use.

But when we turn politics from a filter to a lens and we magnify our hearts existence of self through that lens to the world, it becomes our light. It becomes what we are showing the world.

Talk About Martin is building a constructive narrative, approach and dare I say our own spheres of influence. Together, as we combine our light, we will be a collective of individual forces. Not a collective of force.

As one of our inaugural Talk About Martin Authors so eloquently reminded us all:

Ethos – It starts with You

Can we define numeric variables to demonstrate the sum whole of civic ethos such as principles, manors, ethics and moral standards on a mathematical scale for the purpose of larger scaled derivatives of nature and behavior?  If so, do they draw pattern with or is there a parallel scale of comparable variables that overlay with cultural sums?

For instance, is it possible to apply mathematical analysis to a layer of the very fabric of our being by quantifying the sum of ethos as comprised by its components?

As humans, we demonstrate these traits outwardly with variable degree in our actions. Our scale of measure then becomes recognized as our character. The persona, the avatar or the spirit, which we create of our own volition, exhibits in our character and is exemplified in our behavior by exercising variable degrees of the elements of ethos.

When next in a dialogue concerning topics that are capable of affecting the emotions and attitudes of others, and someone says in a rhetorically inquisitive tone, with subjective phraseology, implying the nature of principled civic ethos has somehow vanished into the ethereal mist of reality, my reply will be a calculated predication.  That is because most often one will reply in accepting agreeance with a similarly disconcerted demeanor and then rhetorically reply with an “all is lost” shake of the head and a sigh. My unobserved instinctual behavior is pronounceably similar most often.

Therefore, I will attempt to modify my thinking and monitor my behavioral responses with greater acuity in an effort to cultivate my behavior.  This thinking is a change towards an end of the perpetuation of false cultural and lassie faire norms for the purpose of correctness as they exist in my lexicon of belief. The acceptance of the non-predominance of the ethos memorialized in our immediate conversation in such a way that expresses the substance of the ethos no longer existing in the realm of reality is just not true.

All men knowingly or otherwise exercise ethos in their actions and thus reflect the same in their character. A person that can identify and filter their actions with disciplined self-observation will over time accommodate a more refined filter that will weave the screen used to formulate belief of thoughts and ideas. If done in this manner you will find that there is a way to allow for the identification of transitory and instinctual behavior to increase the granularity of reality as it applies to ethos.

That is not to say that the nature of ethos does not exist in practice as implied by the rhetorical interrogative. The implication is that there has to be an end to the acceptance of the same lack of ethos before a return to the same can dominate. We have to rekindle the fact that principled ethos does exist; it is just not being practiced or is diminished within the group.

The substance of ethos is only capable of civic (group) predominance when exercised individually, on a collective basis for the whole, the group.  Therefore, if one perceives that principled ethos is missing from any of societies many realms, it should indicate the whole of those that comprise the realm of topic, each then are individually responsible for the practice and exercise of the same. The perceptible value of their combined actions is what will culminate in a severity of causality as it relates to the groups ethos.  The outcome of causal action by either exercising principled ethos, or not, among a group, is predicated upon the individuals choice when combined collectively.

If at this point my conversational companion, who is part of the group, is prepared for another rhetorical shrug and sigh, well, guess what! If the nature of the ethos is lacking, and I agree, then from now on I am going to suggest then that those, the ones who know principled ethos are the problem if they continue to accept the lack of determinable ethos in the group. Negative or unprincipled ethos in a group only flourishes when allowed. For good men to sit by in passive allowance for others behavior is what will then allow the lack of principled ethos to come to dominate.

The converse then is that when those that practice principled ethos in the group do so without apprehension others notice it in the group. It then makes it safer for the individual that turns a blind eye or perceives that they are beaten down to realize they are not alone and they too are able to do the same.

It is when good men sit idle and fear the darkness that darkness is given allowance to flourish. Each of us must be of their own self, the light, to afford others to see and combine their light of self in an effort to eradicate the darkness and reestablish positive ethos.

Even in the most deprecating environments, one that knows principled ethos has a truer nature and or spirit that is drawn to light over darkness. Darkness may be foist on us but light will always overcome the darkness. When our light is unashamed and founded in bedrock it will act as beacon to bring others to the light. This allows each individual to bring with them more light to increase the perimeter of principled civic ethos. They individually produce a mathematic power of sum total to dominate the darkness and bolster principled ethos within a culture.

“What can one person really do anyway?”  One person can act contrary to the acceptance of the fact that a positive ethos is gone. One person, practicing civic ethos and rebuking its lack, will by their nature, inspire others and bring a larger perimeter to the circle that collects them.

As a human, we perform more completely in environments where we are accepted. When a group that exercise principled ethos individually as a collective whole it precludes the rapid infection of weakened ethos. When however, a turn of the head here and a turn of the head there attitude takes over, the light of the ethos begins to fade and the darkness draws closer to the interior perimeter.  Once acceptance of behavior that lacks principled ethos is tolerated, it will become the new normal. With an unchecked balance of resistance, the group may be overcome with darkness and the end of the group is incurred.

This is why we must reward those around us with the respect of personally performing in a manner that is equaled in principled ethos.  We do so to create a strong light. We do so to nourish the group. We do so for self-preservation with the least defense required.

If we would simply begin by practicing our ethos in a way that we would want others to practice it when dealing with us then we will be off to a good start.

So what can one person do?  One can do more than a million when one does, and then another as well, then there are two doing and the number has doubled. So that when two see two and do the same another doubling. Change by example is contagious.  It begins with you.

We all have heard the name Sigmund Freud. For those who are fortunate enough not to have, he is the father of the then modern psychology. He had a Nephew by the name of Edward Bernays, Edward grew up at his Uncles knee learning the science and art of the manipulation of thought and idea in a human mind.

Over time, young Edward went on to be a Father to humanity as well. He went on to be the “Father of Propaganda” for his part in the war effort. He was rebranded sometime later with a new moniker as “The Father of Public Relations”. The other was just a bit too dirty feeling I suppose.

This is the point in history where two of the pieces fell together to start a slow and now rapid arrival towards a place called the singularity. This is a place where everything is always on and always there. It is a time of man and machine interconnections. Today is the day where you have a digital persona as well as a physical reputation. They are becoming blurred lines more and more everyday though. The protection of your digital persona is near non-existent in comparison to your physical reputation based solely on questionable “contract law” (the EULA).

Now we are at the very edge and beginning of a merger of bio and digital blending into a transformed human. Who gets to share in it though? What of those who choose not to share in the new digital transfer? Will it be just those with means or influence that will gain from the ability to achieve super human characteristics?

How do we make it able to be distributed for benefit of the species as a whole on a scale never achieved by mankind? Not just one class of people. Easy, make it give the person something free that they would otherwise not have and they instantly give their humanity over to you and the digital realm. With the humanity goes Freedom.

Many have already given their face, retina and thumb print to their phone and to the people at the other end who are sitting behind their keyboard and looking at your bio-metric information on their screen. Maybe this time it is as a single person or maybe next as a much smaller part of a whole group of people. Your dossier is updated for accuracy every time you use it. It is convenient I guess.

Have you been watching how rapidly the world is changing in real solid ways? Like e-mail and texting and voice mail and chat. Things like drones and implants for sight and speech. There has been rapid change over 20 years ago in our capability to solve, design and make just about everything. Have you noticed?

It is when the human animal subsists in a habitual routine formed over time from the compulsory recurrence of daily rigger that the nuance of change is generally lost to the conscious mind by the subconscious.  That is until the change that has been occurring culminates into a catalyst which then modifies either the environmental appearance of the world or the requirement of the human to perform their day-to-day grind noticeably changes.

In other words, change now affects them so they consciously notice. It could be as simple as a stop sign showing up “overnight”. The hardest to see are the forces that do not show up in front of you. The forces that are in the shadows and dishonestly represent themselves are harder yet to codify.

Usually it is either too late for the human to change the restrictive force pressed upon their personal liberty or the change is a strong enough fundamental change that the framework of humanity rebukes it. This is why slow change is usually referred to in conversation with the classic line of “How did we get here?” or “Boy I remember when …”

This natural human condition exists in us all too varying degrees. How we discipline our self to be observant and proactive instead of reactive gives us time to immerse our self in the change, observe the change closely, ignore it or rebuke the force.

The forces in life that have potential to directly affect our family or us are looked at with a greater sense of consciousness. The fact that we perceive a threat or benefit from the forces in life that shape our ability to walk in freedom is built in. The degree to which we recognize these forces and embrace, reject or avoid them is fundamental in our life outcome. Man has forever worked to influence the masses and always will. It is our nature.

The acceptance of these changes is directly related to the perceived value or threat the individual holds of them. The changes that have affected humankind have existed in two realms until recent history. The first being the physical change, the wheel, railroads, newspaper, telegraphs, cars, horses, steam, gas, and fire are examples of humankind changing forces that are physical in nature. They modify not only our perception but also our physical methodology of living and working.

The other has been more ethereal. When the auto was introduced, it was a revolutionary utilitarian milestone. The full on acceptance was not instant. Fear, skepticism and tradition stood in the way of making buggy whip makers fall by the way side. It took a narrative of ideas and discussion to propel the car to the forefront. Later it took even more imagination to convince people of the value of different brands. We did this with advertising or propaganda. Both of these are aimed to make the human “think” or “feel” positive towards one idea over another.

Still today, we can see an excellent example of this change and a need to convince people that it is what they need. The electric or hybrid vehicle was supposed to be the next iteration of automotive innovation and evolution. Ask yourself why the electric vehicle has been adopted on a scale that is much smaller than the gas powered automotive market. Your answer will probably show a lack of acceptance to the idea of the electric vehicle as it compares to the benefit of a gas vehicle.

Change has been typically slow for millennia because of this natural law of human acceptance. Life is complicated enough without having to adapt our tools that work for us and allow us to get through the day. New “ideas” come with a high degree of learning and failure. Most are unwilling to be adopters until it is the only alternative or makes life more convenient.

This pattern can be reflected with most if not all of the innovations we accept into our day-to-day life. It has happened slowly. We have always said nothing just happens overnight, and until now, we would be accurate in our portrayal by saying that of large-scale change.

For the past two centuries, man has worked tirelessly to find ways to convince their fellow humans that there is one particular way that is better over another or a particular product that is better than another is. The learning and trade practices have been slowly refined to know what to say to you, how to show it to you and how to make you want it.

You know this in its most basic materialization as advertising. It is someone trying to convince someone else to act, think or accept something or someone. They want you to perceive it their way for their benefit, and not necessarily always yours.

The one element that has precluded man from achieving rapid massive change was the inability to saturate the masses with single narrative. Because our “advertising” platforms of the past were, slow in their dissemination. They were weak in their broad control by one or a group. There was not a singular source from which all of the societal nudges could work.

Ford took one approach and Buick took another. All the while, the effect was to say “car good” – “buggy bad”. Therefore, each work to convince you or a subset of us that one is better for you than another is. Specialization in marketing kept us from driving one model of vehicle and then the next as someone else would have presented to us, had we had only one source of advertiser.

Imagine if there was a way that every person was able to receive an ad for a product that they had already shown a proclivity to use. Or if their day to day habits were reflected and we could tell whether that person walked more than they drove, or the advertiser knowing if the person is male or female. What are their religious, political or leisure preferences?

It was not until recent history that we could gather this information. It took forever for companies to do it too. There were new companies dedicated to compiling addresses for advertisers to send their information too in an effort to influence you. The more they know demographically about you the more they can target you with things that may be of interest to you. This explains “Junk Mail” as we coined it.

I would hope that we could all agree that the speed by which our world has changed has been slow and solid. Steps we have taken with new “things” have for the most part left us with works in the real world to accommodate our existence. A product or idea that fails to do that typically does not last long and does not take a solid hold.

Today though we are moving beyond the realm of advertising for the sake of economic or political gain. The information about you is being weaponized in a way that gently nudges you into changing your way of thinking. It no longer is only possible to try to convince you that you need to take your hard-earned money and buy a product. Today it has become much more and it has gone beyond life as we have known it. It is breaking down barriers to acceptance on a large scale quicker and more effectively than ever before.

Fire once discovered was coveted. It has taken us from the time of man’s discovery for personal convenience of the flame to transform it into rockets, cars and a world of other potential innovation that has revolutionized our material world. What has taken man millennia to do now take years and will soon take days.

Today we are discovering smaller particles of energy and how to manipulate them with greater speed and clarity than would have ever been possible. We are achieving results now in a compressed window of time that has not been seen in humankind’s lifetime. The speed of innovation and change is about to accelerate beyond potential for trial and error and acceptance.

What you are about to witness and are living through is the industrial revolution on a scale that is fifteen times faster. Imagine the world impact of change that rapid. Compare it to the chaos and change that took place over one hundred and fifty years and now expect that same upheaval in fifteen times less amount of time.

Several once disparate and now connected forces have culminated into the equivalent of placing your foot on the gas and accelerating beyond imagination in a lifetime. Let’s stick with advertising to amplify this idea.

In early 1940, the information had to be culled from public record. It had to be kept by retailers and companies selling things once you became a customer. They built what then was a statistical understanding at a very high level of “consumer practices”. Companies held “focus groups” to cross section a demographic subset and try to figure out a better way to convince more of us to do or buy something. They did really well at it too.

It was common for kids to send in their name and address to a cereal company for a chance to win on their nightly radio program. Harmless enough in appearance but it enabled the company to now provide arrow like media impressions of their product onto your family. That was then.

Once the computer was introduced into this equation of advertising large subsets of data could now be stored in a way that allowed for deeper dives into the information in an effort to return more behavioral components of their clients and customers. It provided a way to “buy” your information and then compile study and advertise in a way that was even more effective. More efficiency meant greater speed with narrative to the block the advertiser wanted to reach.

Still it was not a very low cash requirement situation for obtaining new clients or customer procurement. There were still some real ways to make sure “you” received the message from the advertiser. Whether you looked at the piece or not was another unknown in the formula and was compensated for by larger volumes of drops for the advertising campaign. It got expensive.

Some of the different ways most reliably used to advertise to you were mail, first postal and then eventually morphing into e-mail and the phone. It started with your “land line”. Now it is your cellular digital phone.

We have all had calls from sales people and robo calls. This is because your behavior and name as well as your contact information have been sold repeatedly and you are paying the people doing the collection of it to sell your digital persona.

Shortly thereafter came the “smart phone”. It is appropriately named for the mission it was designed for. It is smart enough to know when you sleep, how long you sleep. It records how far you walk in a day and when you are more likely to sit. It knows when you are more likely to be in your car or home. It knows if you eat out more than at home. They are tracking and know more about your behavior, both physical and consumer related than ever before.

Beyond the obvious, it knows you by your typing pattern whether you are logged in or not. It measures your gate while you walk. It can extrapolate whether you have the phone or someone else does just by the range of motion you make unique to your movement. It knows your GPS location and the habitual routes you take. The list is endless.

It collects enough environmental data with the web access, texts, e-mail, camera, comment tracking, shopping history as well as the microphone. “So what,” you say? “I have nothing to hide. “ – Yeah right.

It can place you with someone else at the same time through GPS based telemetry and short range communication protocols built into the devices.

Even if you still subscribe to the “So what I don’t have anything to hide” category the question still exists and should be asked of them as to what good does all that information do for them to have? What good would it do me? It does only as much good as the questions asked of it.

To take the easy road we could suggest that we all be ever trusting of our fellow man, governments, and evil billionaire geniuses and say that all of the measure being compiled is for full on philanthropic purpose and no one has motives beyond the best for all of humankind. That would be great if it were true.

The ultimate goal of large tech, primarily for discussion, Google and Facebook, both of which are United States Intel funded in their infancy, has other ideas. They want your persona. They want to know where you are going before you know you want to go. They want you to dissuade your vote for a candidate that holds their values and vision of technocracy.

The goal all along has been to train Artificial Intelligence about humankind and our behavior. Forget advertising, it is paying the bills so the tech companies can gather volumes of information for rapid dissemination in a way and with a speed never achieved in humankind’s history. They are turning loose an abstract mathematical experiment on top of your behavior for the purpose of knowing everything there is to know about you and the human kind.

Of course these questions are very complex and the speed by which we compute information today is trifle in comparison to the power we need to do the real work. Many would have you think it is an impossible achievement to obtain.

What would take fifty trillion hours for Googles cloud servers to extrapolate was recently achieved in less than 30 seconds. To compare the speed at which the computations took place it means that today’s super computer would have taken ten thousand years to calculate what was done in 20 seconds by the newly announced Quantum computer from Google. It is a mind boggling 56 Qubits. Google said to expect double exponential growth in the speed of these computers.

They were right. A couple of days later a privately held company introduced a 2048 Qubit quantum computer for the general public. It has a water-cooled system that hooks to most if not all standard faucets found in today’s break rooms and bathrooms. You could even hookup in a broom closet – is nothing sacred anymore?

The speed of this unit is said to have the ability to break block chain encryption. The best military encryption is still out of reach but other sensitive forms of encryption for trade or national security has been rendered breakable. Just like the enigma machine during WWII.

One other nice feature to this little puppy is the out of the box ability through an API (Advanced Program Interface) to create code that the quantum computer can contemplate and return result values for you. Crazy cool if you ask me, crazy scary too.

Let’s jump back to the smart phones data for a second and entertain the idea that these new processors coupled with General AI can extrapolate information about human nature never known to man.

Already today without the quantum bump AI is diagnosing medical ailment with a greater accuracy than human MD’s. AI is producing digital designs for new materials and frameworks that are printed by 3-D rendering printers in all sorts of medium. We can create in cement, metals, plastics, bio-edible material and now bio-human organ and tissue regeneration. All of this without quantum computing.  That is at least until now!

Have you seen the humanoid and four legged autonomous droids from Boston Dynamics lately?

They can do standing back flips and gymnastic routines.

Is there a chance you have seen Asimov from Honda who is designed to be your “digital robotic go get it for me” droid to make your life more convenient? Easy to see how it would make life more convenient especially if you are handicapped or need a mobile assistant for whatever reason.

Have you spoken with Alexa or Cortana?

Well even if you have not they have been listening to you. That’s right, even if you are not the owner. The technology behind the scenes is capable of analyzing a face or a voice print and not just one but many at a time. It can tie your voice heard over someone else’s microphone to your dossier. These different fronts have permission to study you like a cockroach in a lab, which was given to them willingly by all of the adopters of the new drug called digital. Problem is though, those of us who did not agree. There are a few of us out there.

I guess this is a good time to offer Amazon to fair inclusion of this discussion. In addition, let us not overlook the ambition of Virgin Galactic.

If the merger of machine, mind and quantum capacity all of which far out shadow the understanding of man or mankind are not enough to make you pause for a self-honest second, then let me add to the blueprint a few more pieces and then maybe you will begin to see a much bigger picture.

Have you ever wondered why there are no real examples of autonomous vehicles all over the road today? This is the acceptance factor at play here again. They just do not instill confidence and that is because they should not in their current iteration. There are issues of mathematics and speed of communication that needs to be overcome. Once these two are met, the self-driving, flying, walking, swimming, or whatever, will have the ability to know exactly what quadrant of space they exist in and be able to react accordingly.

The issue of latency or speed will be accommodated for as 5G is rolled out. 5G will begin a new era of fast that will allow this all to begin to change, fast. This is why Uber, Amazon, Lyft and others have been busy building pads for non-terrestrial shuttles. That’s right Air Taxis. Oh yeah, and Unmanned Air Delivery Vehicles. At least that is what each of the company’s own propaganda departments tell us.

The launch and final iteration of 5G will be the surveillance grid you and everyone else walk in. Not only is it a surveillance grid it is run on low-power microwave. Prepare to be drenched with microwave radiation. Low power or not, it is microwave radiation. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

Of course the government and corporate pundits are not calling it a surveillance grid, or a global microwave but it is.

Still, the 5G rollout is designed to provide high-speed digital access to every square inch of the above surface earth. They do this by placing a series of satellites in a synchronous orbit above the planet and saturate every portion of the globe in a grid like manner. It seems to me that common sense dictates that he who controls that grid obtains a great deal of power. Because “He who controls the data – wins”!

Up until the promise of 5G, the functional application of self-driving cars has been held back by a problem in the current GPS and data transfer speeds. The speed issue is known as latency. Best described as the amount of time it takes to send and receive information between two points. A usual amount of time is measured in Milliseconds. It may not seem like a lot of time unless you are traveling at 80 miles an hour in a car that needs information immediately to decide whether to brake. You really do not want the info milliseconds later, you want it now.

So 5G is a redesigned system and is now capable of providing instant always on capacity for the “Internet of Things” (IoT). It is amazing really that anything will be able to communicate whatever they are told to anyone or anyplace they are told to do so and it all is being done in real time.

Sounds like Science fiction, but it is today. Here and now. Proven, tested and awaiting final rollout. The orbital rollout has already begun and the terrestrial preparations are coming to a rapid completion as well.

So let’s recap. We can now give the quantum computing droid that has General AI to do things in real time the speed to communicate in real time and we can keep track of them. They too can keep track of us down to the square inch because of the way the 5G grid is designed. Oh and smart phones will no longer be needed, I will get there in a minute.

Like the Chinese surveillance grid and social credit system the promise of facial recognition in the autonomous droid unit will give it capacity to know more about you than even you know about yourself. All of that data sitting in servers with your number is instantly retrievable to the droid once it sees your face or it watches your gate. No hiding from quantum computing autonomous droids with facial recognition and access to your social credit score. What could go wrong there?

Dare we even contemplate that there are and will soon be smarter and stronger advanced artificial machines? They will be robots that can design and replicate replacement parts for other robots as well as its repair parts. It will build and design its own generational offspring all without any human interface beyond starting it thinking.

Hopefully somebody has mentioned ethos and human preservation along the way. A prime directive of real value that is inherently known and unquestioned by the AI. It is a long shot but maybe.

Even if the terminator effect doesn’t happen we can always consider that Face Book, Elon Musk and others are working on brain interfaces that will allow you to interface neurologically through your thought in a digitally translated environment. Google for the brain!

Facebook recently bought a “wearable brain reading device” manufacturing company that produces a device that sits on your head and reads your thoughts. Then it translates them to audio, words, or into digital command to control something else. Oh yeah, and you can receive information digitally as well. Both the send and receive are wireless.

Elon Musk is said to have a chip implant ready to go in a short term. It employs AI neural surgery to implant devices in your head for facilitating man – machine communication.

One of the examples of this ability is a demonstration of a single pilot flying three jets in formation with only his thoughts and a video screen reflecting a visual reference for the pilot. If not jets then what about droids or other air drones.

We also have things like Oculus, which is a new piece of wearable headgear that provides a Virtual reality world that offers 3-D like experience. It also enables the use of devices that interact across the digital divide.

It does so by sending control signals to the other device that the other person wears. All while each person is watching the other in 3-D and using their device to send tactile instruction to the other persons device that replicates it and the person receiving the sensation feels it. Welcome to wearable immersive virtual clothing. You can use your imagination as to where that might go.

Virtual robotic surgery however is now a practical method of human surgery. Several new tactile methods have been designed to replicate pressure and other sensations to enhance the agility of the human controlled machine on the other end.

To date we have done amazingly good things with the use of the new technology. Others have demonstrated a converse direction in terms of usage and outcomes. Frankly, they are scary.

With that being what it is the quantum computing revolution is about to open doors to ideas of study and new possibility that has never been achievable to mankind. It also offers the ability to digitally enslave every man woman and child. The specter of militarization and weaponization of advanced technology is a real threat that is a clear and present danger for mankind.

Before mankind completely loses the human secession of self to convenience the promise of ubiquitous energy must be present. That is to say, that until power is always on and free to all. Then and only then will this animal we are creating be able to claim independence from humankind and evolve from there.

Are we, you, ready for the overwhelming onslaught of the tidal wave proportional change that is coming and that will be wrapping the globe in always on always there technology?

God, may we be forgiven for our conceit to believe that we can control what we create.

Let’s step away from the dystopia for a while and consider that maybe, just maybe all of this sorts itself out and the tidal wave of change brings utopian type promise with it. You know the place. The place where you can have a replica droid made after your likeness. Then, equipped with a specific AI it goes about the day-to-day grind for you. Who knows, maybe you send your droid to work and have it do the dishes, laundry and vacuum when it gets home.

Of course this too is going to require a permanent and always on source of power that is ubiquitous.

Alternatively, we could look at the trans-humanists vision of man merging with machine. Not to say we already have not. The only thing missing from having the phone attached to you right now and working as part of you is the processing capacity that has until now been missed in the equation. Now it has been given a jolt of excitement as we advance closer and closer to the day of the Qubit.

Obviously, no one can say with any certainty what outcome will stem from a global life-changing event. However, if you observe the landscape around you with a greater level of situational awareness towards the digital realm, you too will see potential end for what is to be a historic time in humankind and our certain quantum betterment or our quantum destruction as a species.

In the end there is but one source of ever on and infinite power. That source is God Almighty and to him all things are known and will be. Therefore, given that I already have immortal life I am not going to sweat the small stuff on this one. I am however going to strap myself in for the ride because this one is epic and is going to take us places as a species faster than ever before.

An Open Letter to Parler and Her Community

Dear Parler:

You have done what we all know needed to be done. You have become David. And it is time to slay the giant.

But there was only one of David and one Goliath. There are several Goliath’s now. We need more Davids. I Pray that they will rise from the ashes.

You have coalesced the power of millions upon millions of minds. You have harnessed the angst, outrage and earnest desire to defend a way of LIVING that has proven to be the most successful in all of mankind, short one. We will get there in a minute.

As I watch your explosion my heart and mind ring with consolation that there are other Americans like me out there that are polite, fed up and ready to take back America. In those facts lay a concern I have as well as a plea.

There is an inevitable onslaught of SJW types that will soon permeate the Parler perimeter. How we as users and you as a platform respond will either set the initiative back to a tribal level of chaos and conflict or it will help exonerate us for being sensible.

What I mean is this. If the fellow patriots on Parler turn and gather as defensive tribal turf warriors – we lose again. After all what is really gained or lost except the narrative. Which at that point is pretty senseless anyway. And if that is the case in the end then all your efforts reflect a truly organic illness deeper than social media by any name.

If we as God fearing Christian Americans cannot stand with Grace then this effort is set back. In my humble opinion.

I sense a few different groups within this community. Each in my estimation is a vital component of your rapid rise. The first is the political novice. They appear to be primarily Christian Americans that make this country roll. They seem evenly split demographically. (men and women). Second are the Meme warriors and Third are the patriots on the ground sending news and ideas out worthy of deeper discussion. They do so not only in consideration of a #MAGA or an anti-liberal slant, they do so in an interest to talk to ALL Americans. There is room for everyone.

That said; let it be known that if the whack-A-doodle elements in the digital realm want to spar, you better prepare for a good old American butt whippin through intellect, reason and truth. You see, to succeed IN the world requires a humans thinking. To succeed OVER the world you need GOD.

So when we come together we do so with the biggest giant of all. This is how and why Parler will change the world. Because you have a collection of some of the most honest TRUTH seeking souls on the planet in one place that I pray will facilitate idea and conversation not just tribal warfare. Good things can stem from this technology.

Let’s turn down the volume so we can hear our own side first. Then let’s scream with the most unified voice we can when it is time to scream. I love this Country. I want it known that no one will take it from me or you as long as my heart is beating.

This is why adults need to regain a control over the tools that assist us in our daily effort to be a stronger people. Stay American. Stay hungry. Stay safe in the search for TRUTH. Most of all remain united in the light and Grace of God.

In the mean time I sure could use a translate button in Firefox – Just Sayin !

A local journalist conducted an interview with a survivor of the 9/11 Pentagon attacks. She turned it into a Who’s Who in Florida type of Bio piece. The person interviewed is a well-spoken and educated individual from what is presented in the interview. His dedication through military service is unquestionable. He makes a very salient suggestion that prior military carry within them an understanding of putting the mission before self. The reasoning for this idea is support for his theory that Veterans make better elected public servants than do civilian.

I could not agree more with the statement that as Veterans we do understand mission before self. I will add also that a military Veteran has already taken a lifelong pledge to be the guardian of liberty and the Constitution of the United States of America, death before dishonor.

There are variables in the suggested equation however that are not brought out or highlighted in the piece. One of those variables being that unless you have a discussion with the Veteran about the Constitution, you can only assume they see it as a Constitutional American would. Not all do. Progressives can serve in the armed forces too. Take Representative Brian Mast for example. No really, please take him.

Brian lost limb and paid a heavy price for service. That however does not automatically qualify him for office. It does qualify him though as a combat Veteran and for that he should be given the full respect and honor due him and other Veterans. Much like others I supported Brian on his inaugural run for CD18 in Florida. A mistake I did not make the second time around. Second being the key word, as in Second Amendment.

Please be careful, do not place all Veterans in the same political jacket.

Militarily it is one thing to have a mission and tight cohesive operational training and execution for the purpose of destruction.  It is important to put mission before self. It is important to act and not react, to lead and not follow. They are strong traits, all of them.

The discovery of self and the discipline earned are character traits no one can take from you once you have earned them. They do also give you advantage in a political arena.

That however is where the similarity to your governance and your protection end.  A Veteran has taken a lifelong oath to protect preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. So again it seems like a simple fit from there to elected office. Not so, simply because Veterans like Mast, McCain, Kerry and others have a revisionist view of the Constitution. They now are able to take that same discipline earned in the Armed Forces and apply it to their mission in government.

Make sure you see their mission papers before you vote for them. Not all of my fellow Veterans are Constitutionalists that put country before party or revisionist legislation. If we had a political party that cared more about outcome than they do income we would be a lot better off.

So when does honest self-enlightenment beget determinable action?

That is to say that when one actually “gets it” and understands the reality of a matter, then when and how do you become driven to do something about the force that is an influence on your life and the life of everyone else, be it good or bad in nature? In other words when does a person stop saying, “Yeah I get it, so what?” or “What can I do?” and begin saying “This is wrong and I am going to say so.” or “I refuse to comply” based upon a self-honest enlightenment of nature and fact. Even, “I am going to do something, because this is wrong”.

When you or I read, hear, see or even witness something over time until we have the ‘Eureka’ or ‘ah ha moment’ and become enlightened to its deeper negative context we are faced with a new binary choice.  Do we file it away as a known bad quantity to avoid and just keep stepping around it or do we file it away as something we have to remove from our path to continue our individual journey.

Not all of life’s presentations in this binary matter are negative and not all are of monumental nature. Like I have said before, “Don’t sweat the small stuff McGee”. Most are instinctive decisions made in an atomic second. However, when it is the moment that you or I are able to find the light switch in a room of life influence and we are faced with the reality of bad people doing bad things, what then.

It is when the light coming on exposes bad outcome for you and me that I want to address here, understanding that all lights switched on will not illuminate a boogeyman. Still, we have the same choice. Our choice is to herald and live in the positive nature of the new found enlightenment in an effort to bring others towards the same. Or, it is to warn those around us of the danger in the room and hopefully gain their support in eliminating the danger.

Seeing and reacting to events in our government, culture and family are an influence in our life for good or bad and is something we all do. The level of conscious effort and understanding of the individual is varied to be sure. However, when we finally get something, something real and something big, there is a second phase that occurs. It is sort of another binary decision point we face over and over. This time though, it is in the light and not sub to our conscience.

When a person that has faculty and intellect to consider a matter on merit and honesty and not based upon what they have been told to think and do so in self-honesty, the individual grows. When the majority refuse to think for themselves and accept the dogmatic doctrine of ritualism or ideology then collectivism begins to grow in the same organic environment that fosters the self-honest individual.  This is why Self-honesty is critical.

Without self-honesty we are mere vessels of someone else’s ideas, beliefs and usage. We first must know what we believe at core and why, before we can have that “Eureka” moment. The ability to question and respond in a manner suited to you the individual and not the collective is why self-honesty is so important.

Our governance and cultural predilection is based upon the individual. When each of us is self-honest in our nature and live based upon our self-honesty and action we are then “We the People”. “We The People” is not a collection of individuals. We, the individual people are free to think and be. Without self-honesty however, an individual is not even able to know that their freedom is being infringed. Because they do not fully know what real individual freedom actually is.

Be sure too that the outcome of individual self-honesty does not manifest in everyone thinking, dressing, or looking alike. What it does foster is a culture of individualism. In doing so it organically displays ideas and outcome of thought. It can expose new rooms of idea for you to look in. The mansion of self-honesty and discovery is vast. We should not allow our wisdom of self-honest discovery to be consumed as an end point in our journey. Our self-discovery and discovery of the world around should be a constant matter of which we question not only our own beliefs but those of our government and God with fervent self-honesty in an effort to attain another light switch. Not doing so and considering a self-discovery as the pinnacle becomes arrogance and leads to depredated outcome of effect.

Point being, if we, the people, adhere to common principle of civility and governance, as agreed upon in our founding documents, we are free. When we, the people, rely upon edict, regulation, mandate, stipulated behavior, political correctness and social justice, then we the individual are lost as the engine of our freedom and liberty.

Again, this is not to say that we all must be the same. There is no individual idea for the masses in Liberty other than one. It is that our agreeance as a people as to how our free will behavior is regulated and who will protect the borders so we may enjoy our individual freedom and right to acquiesce in the same. We do so by the bounds of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

It is however to mean that when a few or a group find common ground of idea in freedom that they are not given the ability by nature to tell the rest of the individuals how they are expected to conform their behavior to another’s liking, as long as it is not in direct contravention of the Founding Documents. That is capitulation to edict and not individualism.

It is easy to say that the Law is the same collection of the few telling the many. In many ways that is correct. Especially today when we are over legislated and regulated, a lot of which in and of itself if seriously given challenge would be found unconstitutional in and of itself. That is a whole other discussion though.

However, we either live in anarchy at one end of the scale and have no law for anyone, or we live in complete authority at the other end of the scale. As Americans, we have decided, constitutionally that we will exist with the need for governance. We created our government in a way that we are buffered from the effect of complete anarchy but still allow for individual action and freedom not governed or restricted by authority. We have basic human rules that are meant to govern our behavior. No killing, stealing, cheating, lying etc., you get it. Beyond that, your government is out of control.

Our government was created not to oversee and rule the people. It was created to allow an environment by which people can govern themselves through their action and outcome. Our founding documents ascribe positive preservation of human right not negative restriction of liberty. It is meant that a man may succeed as well as fail with government staying out of the way. We have done just the opposite. We have ceded our role in the equation and have allowed the chase of luxury and creature comfort to replace our need as individuals for self-reliance and minimal governance.

All things in life come back to self. When we are faced in life with external influence and effect, the way we filter, analyze and respond to these stimuli determine our actions and thus influence our worldly outcome in our life; for better or for worse. It has cause and effect on others as well. This is why when we predicate our behavior on the principles that what we do as individuals should it not break the bone (bring physical harm) nor pick a wallet (financial harm) of another, then I will not ask you to not incline your effort in a direction other than that which you have chosen. Said more plainly, you do whatever it is you want, and so will I. The only ground rule is we do not cause harm, financial or physical to one another.

So, back to where we started, self-honesty. Either you give a damn or you don’t. Should it be that you do not, then please step aside and wait for an outcome. If you do, then let’s have a civil discussion like intelligent people and not fourth grade teams that have to win at dodge ball. This is not P.E. and it is not totally up to anyone. So, when you are ready to have an honest dialogue let’s begin by understanding that the way we discuss our differences of governance in self-honest individual idea is through the lens and foundation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

As individuals we are certain to hold different views, ideas, likes and dislikes. What we have to understand though is that our government is the means of last resort for enforcing those ideas and when not in keeping with our agreed principle have no place in law.

Besides, if one group, corporate America or any lobby group wants to impose its ideal and will above the whole of the people into legislation, then it has become the law perverted.

So let us try and discuss our differences of governance in the frame work of the founding documents. Let us try and handle our discussion of matters other than those regulated as individuals respectful of others in their ideals.

If you are not to accept the founding documents as basis for governance, then you need to change the constitution based on your constitutional ability. You already have that option afforded to you as do I. For me, it is a last resort option, much the same as a civil war or, a revolution.

Even then we still will need to have a foundation to base our ideas from whether it is the current Bill of Rights or one that you wish to amend. So let’s at least begin where we have common ground.

The other means for you is to use treasonous and tyrannical subversion in the form of anarchic cries for armed overthrow of America, like the Austin Antifa have done publically on FaceBook. Wow, the irony in that reality is Alice in Wonderland.

The organization known as ANTIFA is classified by this government as a domestic terror group. So why then if our keepers of liberty have identified it as such, do we allow the operational effect of their declared treason to continue?  What good is it to declare them as enemies of the State and allow them free movement and perpetration of their declared violence.

Yes, swatting ANTIFA will cause some pain. Not doing so makes me question the complicity of my government even further.

I choose to have the discussion on the foundation of the current documents. It has served generationally so far with success. The fact that we, the people, have migrated our self-governance away from where we should be does not mean that the system is the problem.

Self-honesty, let’s each start there, hopefully then we can be honest with another and begin the process of self-discovery and individual liberty to be free and be who you want to be.

Along the way should we, together, find that the system is broken in places, then let us use our reclaimed dialogue in Liberty to exercise a remediation thereof in the frame work of the founding documents. The reality of this all is that no one wins in a civil war or an egalitarian revolution and no one wins if we do not talk.

Before I take off down the road on this one I want to stress that a technophobe I am not. I have been professionally involved in the digital sphere from a time before GUI, Mouse and LED. The idea was but a glint of nerdy vocabulary in some Harvard dorm room when I began. cropped-chaosWhat I am however is a person that is savvy to the power of the technological universe. For decades it has been my professional charge to look from the inside of the monitor out.

The potential of benefit from technology for humankind is mind blowing. Just the fact that mankind can now have a bible available from every computer makes Gideon’s reach seem small. (Not insignificant, relax). We can know how to DIY a [fill in the blank]. You get the idea. The internet has given us tools to make those things we do in our day to day more efficient and more content rich. There is nothing wrong with having better and proper tools for the job.

I do not mind the idea of a website consolidating a play list of music and offering streaming genre to specific tastes in music. Even if it means the mega contract superstars fade away too. I applaud it if new voices and talent can have a platform for discovery and exposure. (Jango.com) I say this even if it means that the old radio stations of the day will become museums. I was there as a part of the radio generation and my father helped build it. So, I get it.

I do however want to find a way to transfer those protections built into the old communications model that we placed there for the sake of having a way to ensure foundational constitutional freedoms and rights in manner equal to the same. Meaning, we have a government elected by the people that has on our behalf regulated communication in a (I may cough here) transparent way so that censorship or one side gaining the voice stands less of a chance of occurring.  Those control processes seem to be lacking, in both realms. May I suggest we correct the real world before we high dive into the digital.

What is not lacking though is the erosion of real world infrastructure and model of communication at an alarming rate. We at least have built in defense of freedom for all into it, which can be challenged and must be responded to when we see it becoming too slack or too strong, The FCC has their skeletons and detractors, but at least we know who they are when things go out of bound. That is what the real difference is.

The difference is not in the information and application of the internet vs. the real world. The difference is our real world ability to have a handle on it as a people not as a few handlers making the decision of what is good and what is evil. We as individuals need to have the ability not to allow the few to control the many. Which is about to happen.

There is a digital cultural dragnet being run over the world.  While something more suited to our wants wins in the end, there is going to be a real push for singular control at the top.. Our methods are different yet the same, sort of.

In the real world model we are discussing here the FCC has regulatory oversight of certain public interest in broadcast as a good for the whole of society. That simply means that government, as elected by the people, decides the rules on our behalf. You know, little things like, you cannot openly ban and censor voices. They call it equal air time. One voice must be allowed equal to another. Specifically, in non-paid political broadcast time equal and opposing time must be given for unpaid political discussion. Not quite the same on line.

As we lose books, newspaper delivery, magazine racks, broadcast radio and other modern era media and means of communication to the digital sphere we find ourselves in a somewhat paradoxical situation. To whom and how will equality of idea and opinion be given proper balance for the good of humankind if a handler platform chooses otherwise? What happens when the primary handler platforms ban together in the same effort? Who is there for you then?

To the religious of this Nation, here is a question for the American Christian Church Community in fair challenge to ideal.

Question: What happens to the concept of our First Amendment Right, freedom of religion. when our church, in our neighborhood, can no longer find means of Cesars gold to sustain operation.  Fortunate for them, Caesar is dead and we have the web. We will just go on line. Bibles everywhere, except china and …….

Right, well sort of. Because you see. You have no protection or freedom of censure and censorship on the WEB. Just sayin. Like the Political Philosopher, GOD can too be subjugated in digital print by Tyrant. It used to be called State Censorship and has happened again and again. This time it is corporate digital censorship. So back to Freedom of Speech.

Let me explain. Netflix, Amazon, Tubi and others have replaced Cable, Dish and Broadcast modern era viewership. All that is left is for the legacy stations to rust away and crumble. Facebook, YouTube and subscription service are replacing traditional news media. The New Media is completely changing the face of media today.

Again, I get it. I love it. I see a lot of potential in the technology. Still it is just a bunch of wires, we are just doing better at what we can get the wires to carry. As a person involved it is kind of cool to watch history being made in front of me. A humankind shift of era is not a generational occurrence, so I get it.

But, if you are to take away my physical world ability to provide for mass communication and mass media in the traditional model, and you want me to assume that the digital sphere is the same, then we need to talk.  Because, it is not the same at all. Anyone or any thought can be consumed and never heard in the digital sphere. Digital walls can be built around idea.

In the real world a book, The Bible, is distributed in print and therefore to date has not been eradicated from existence. If we, as a species are to cede knowledge and communications platform for life to a digital realm, then we should as digital person be able to have a certain ability to protect our anonymity and our right to publish, print, video and speak ideas that are no more opposing in the real world than they are in the digital.

Problem is, if the handler, Facebook decides my thoughts, or the thoughts of Jesus Christ , as fanatic or inflammatory they will exclude them from rank and even try to swerve you in a different line of thought away from me.

Campbell Brown, a former anchor on NBC and CNN who now leads Facebook’s news partnerships team, told attendees at a recent technology and publishing conference that Facebook would be censoring news publishers based on its own internal biases:

“This is not us stepping back from news. This is us changing our relationship with publishers and emphasizing something that Facebook has never done before: It’s having a point of view, and it’s leaning into quality news. … We are, for the first time in the history of Facebook, taking a step to try to to define what ‘quality news’ looks like and give that a boost.” (Emphasis added.)

If you expect me or anyone else to transfer our life into this sphere of global hyper mass communication, then expect us to push back when you violate our equal right to have opposing view. That is not happening though. Instead the handlers are learning it is easier to just silence the voice of those they do not think to be worthy of hearing or those things that are not common of the handlers mind. So, there is a real big difference in the “old fashioned” world we are allowing to be ripped out from under us. Make sure you know this though. Life is lived in the world, not online.

PragerU has already been hit with similar censorship-like action from YouTube. Other conservatives such as Diamond and Silk were previously flagged as “dangerous” by Facebook, while Candace Owens was recently banned by Twitter for calling out another person’s racism.

The list of evidence goes on and on. If these are honest “mistakes,” why do they seem to only happen to conservative voices?

“Removing two videos, marking them as ‘hate speech’ and then subsequently censoring over 15 of our following posts to reach 0 of our 3 million followers is not a mistake,” PragerU chastised. “It’s deliberate censorship of conservative ideas.”

When you allow your social involvement and immersion into the digital sphere, you have to be more attuned of violation of your human rights. Like freedom of speech. There is no judicious or balanced method of resolution as there is in your rights in the physical sphere when you are censored or have other freedom violated. When those same protections of freedom do not exist, there is an issue.

When a person can lose an entire life career because of 144 character Twitter assassinations, there is no safety in social media. Unless of course you are part of the mob that is lynching someone for thought different than the plurality of the day. This is not social and is not living a life.

I pay the effort to socialize culture in the digital sphere and eradicate the physical creepy and dangerous. Just ask the Chinese about their Social Credit score and if you are lucky, find one with a low score if they survive re-education.

There are so many amazing things that this matrix of knowledge and “instant on” can do for us all in an effort to elevate mankind.

This is why adults need to regain a control over the tools that assist us in our daily effort to be a stronger people. Instead it seems that a pervasive ideological Marxism is demanding control of the digital political narrative. It seems too that a delusional postmodern crowd all the way into their late 40’s seems to think the physical world is something other than real. When a Georgetown admissions officer and his vegan lover decided to bicycle through ISIS controlled land because in their words “Violence does not really exist” you end up saying, they are dead now.

Nature’s outcome and history do not lean in a favorable place for this lunacy and socialist grab of the narrative. There is a big difference when you live life, in the world, not on a screen.  It seems that there is a younger class amongst us that never learned that lesson. That will in the end mean that either we adults quickly corral the children in the room or everyone, young and old, will soon experience that one thing that brings us all back to the ground and reminds us of our similar nature. PAIN.
