As I had to remind a group of fellow Republicans, many of whom are big “R”, Big Government, and soft social “R’s”, it is not the Liberals that are your immediate enemy. Most of them I am sure had to stop and scratch their collective head and once again declare my political extremism and absurdity.
However, those of us that closely follow the more natural and evolutionary trends of politics understand exactly of whom I am speaking. Care to venture a guess as to who the real enemy is?
That’s right, the PROGRESSIVES. What is a Progressive? Well here are a few sure fire ways to spot the ever more abundant Progressive in it’s element.
A progressive is someone who believes rights that are not stated in the Constitution, but inferred or extrapolated, should be given more weight than rights plainly enumerated.
A progressive is someone who knows there is a fundamental constitutional right to gay marriage, for example, even though the Constitution says nothing directly about marriage, but that a law-abiding individual has no right to own a gun, even though the Constitution clearly states that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
A progressive believes that sexual liberty trumps religious liberty, even though the Constitution says nothing about sex, and guarantees explicitly the right to free exercise of religion.
The Constitution mysteriously confers an unlimited right to an abortion, but the core right to life mentioned in the due process clause is reserved for criminals facing the death penalty. Human beings living in their mother’s wombs need not apply.
One thing progressives won’t do is allow anything, and I mean ANYTHING, to stand in the way of their agenda.
It’s a philosophy, not a party.
Both Republicans and Democrats have a major infestation of this sickness. Here is a list of now NAKED and out in the open “Republicrats”, they showed their true color on the immigration bill in the Senate yesterday:
The vote was 67-27, seven more than the 60 needed, with 15 Republicans agreeing to advance legislation at the top of President Barack Obama’s second-term domestic agenda.
Here are the 15 Republican senators who voted in favor of invoking cloture on the amendment, according to the Weekly Standard:
•Lamar Alexander
•Kelly Ayotte
•Jeffrey Chiesa
•Susan Collins
•Bob Corker
•Jeff Flake
•Lindsey Graham
•Orrin Hatch
•Dean Heller
•John Hoeven
•Mark Kirk
•John McCain
•Lisa Murkowski
•Marco Rubio (FL)
•Roger Wicker
Folks, Progressives are the ones you need to go after right now. We agree with Liberals on more than you think. The difference between a Progressive, a Republican and a Liberal? The Republican and Liberals still believe in the Constitution and The Bill of Civil Rights. We can find time later to debate Abortion, Birth Control and Climate Change. Right now, we need to identify and remove the Progressives from power. Then we can get back to restoring this great Republic to it’s rightful place.
– Eric D. Miller ~ 2013
Conservatives, as stereotyped by Teabaggers, are America’s lost souls. A maladjusted generation who will waste themselves away pining for their fantasy white America that is long lost forevermore, unable to understand that they lost not ecause of how they said things but because of the things they said. When they lose, they can only lose because somebody cheated them. When they win, it was God’s grace or their manifest destiny. The sooner these cyclops die out, the easier the transition of the USA into the 21st century. Obama is the now and for the next four years. Get over it, or not. Really makes no big diff to me, we don’t need you anymore.

@Wine Dude – Thank you for your interest in the post. I think you have encapsulated the elitist intolerance so pervasive in a Progressive nature. You seem bitter and aloof, I will pray for you. May you know the blessings of God ad his grace before your day of judgment.

I would argue it is not merely the progressives who are the enemy. It is libertarians and other idealists who place too much weight upon abstractions. http://thedemocracyofthedead.wordpress.com/2013/07/13/the-paradoxes-of-progress/

@Theintrepidpage – The link you provided is very well thought out and exists on a level above the majority’s ability to value. I was able to see where your comment here is based. If I may, here is a portion of your post that you linked that I would like to discuss further :
“When individualism grows excessively, the individual is made smaller than ever. The multiplication of individual rights destroys the power of intermediary institutions (families, universities, townships, churches, etc.). Individual rights are nearly always rights against such institutions, simultaneously elevating the individual and the state at the expense of everything else. Hence, the 20th century was marked by the simultaneous explosion of government power and the growth of individualism and individual rights. As institutions are eroded, however, the individual finds himself standing increasingly alone- the very state that has delivered him now holds greater authority over him than ever before.”
I would expand on your idea of individualism and say that Individualism that grows excessively without an equal balance of Individual Responsibility reduces the Individual and encourages collectivism an opportunity to take control. There are those of the more Libertine stripe that as advocates and forward facing proponents of the idea of individualism over collectivism have not given thought beyond the aspect of having greater Liberty and have yet to learn the principle that the more responsibility through less governance they achieve, they must equally be responsible for the action they take in that it not harm their neighbor or take from their neighbors ability to provide income for themselves. The latter responsibility is the balancing agent to Libertarianism.
In terms of your assertion of multiplication of rights. It is my view that Government does not endow me with my rights but does God. Government is the protector of my rights of those my pursuit of life, liberty and property. When government exceeds those bounds of protection and then turns to ruling, instead of protecting, as a form of governance there can be no equilibrium and the imbalance you see today where up is down comes to be.
I welcome your patronage here and have marked your pages as one to read. I am hopeful we can lend to the discussion as strong individuals and change the collective nature of our fellow readers in a positive way.
